The team at Chesapeake Bank’s Richmond branch celebrated Earth Day in a very special way this year.
We joined forces with neighbors to help maintain the community’s historic Westwood Playground. Volunteers cleared overgrown limbs, picked up litter and helped spruce up the grounds with fresh mulch and colorful flowers.
Last year, the City installed a new grill, benches and tables, and for the first time in years the park pavilion had working restrooms and running water.
More than 40 volunteers stopped by for a day of cleaning up and giving back so everyone in the community could enjoy the historic park and playground. A morning of cleaning and clearing gave way to an afternoon cookout complete with hotdogs, hamburgers and all the fixings!
“We’ve come a long way since we first discovered the abandoned playground three years ago,” said Sam Poole, Regional Retail Manager at Chesapeake Bank. “It’s amazing to see everyone come together to show their support. I’m so proud to be a part of this neighborhood.”
A big thanks to everyone who came out to help keep the playground alive and well. We so appreciate you celebrating Earth Day in a way that’s “All About Community.”
