We know, we know, school’s out for summer. But, we need pencils now, so put down the pool floats.
Chesapeake Bank’s annual “It’s All About Community” campaign is starting up again to make going back to school easy and affordable for area children.
From July 18th until mid-August, the bank’s branches will be collecting school supplies (pencils, crayons, rulers, notebooks – click here for a complete list) and monetary donations. We will partner with area YMCAs and Departments of Social Services to assist over 350 area children in need; sending them back to school with big smiles and full backpacks.
Please look for an upcoming photo contest on Chesapeake Bank’s Facebook page. All of our branches will be featuring a decorated school supply collection box. Previous years’ box decorating contest winners include a school bus, a Minion, and a Cookie Monster! Look to see what creative creatures your local branch comes up with this year. Be sure to ‘like’ your favorite box! Prizes will be given to the branch with the most ‘likes’ and donations and supplies raised.
Chesapeake Bank employees are also excited to volunteer for their local YMCA’s Bright Beginnings Shopping Buddies program in August. Volunteers are partnered one-on-one with a child to go shopping for back to school clothing. At the end of the shopping trip, you will have the joy of watching a child walk away with new school clothing and a backpack filled with school supplies. If you are interested in joining us and becoming a Shopping Buddy Volunteer, please contact your local YMCA.
