American Banker recently released its third annual ranking of the Top 50 Best Banks to Work For, and Chesapeake Bank was included for the third year in a row.
According to American Banker, the banks recognized “take their fun seriously” and go above and beyond in making employees feel valued and engaged. One way Chesapeake Bank makes employees feel engaged? Chesapeake Bank President and CEO Jeff Szyperski calls every employee on their birthday and encourages them to contact him directly with concerns and questions throughout the year.
“We recognize our employees are our competitive advantage so we do all we can to make Chesapeake Bank a great place to work,” Szyperski said. “It shows up in both our retention of excellent employees as well as attracting people who want to work in an environment such as ours. At the end of the day, our customers benefit from a great and happy employee base.”
Chesapeake Bank also was recognized for professional development opportunities, community services initiatives and open communication. All employees have the chance to advance their careers with additional training paid for by the bank, and community service initiatives are put into practice throughout all levels of the company – evident in the 2014 videos of employees getting doused with water as a part of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.
