The rising cost of education is an expense that is difficult for most people considering a college education. The good news is that there are often scholarships and grants available to students that can ease the burden of payment. At Chesapeake Wealth Management, we’re big supporters of continuing education and we love to share community resources with our neighbors. That’s why we’re proud to be a part of The Ben D. Conley Charitable and Educational Foundation scholarship!
Wicomico Church native Benjamin Delano Conley was always interested in the well-being of others. As a result, in 1986, he and his wife Virginia created The Ben D. Conley Charitable and Educational Foundation to assist students in the Northern Neck communities.
Each year a specified amount of funds is issued to distribute among eligible students. Applicants are selected based on need, academics and level of extracurricular activities.
The late couple entrusted Chesapeake Wealth Management to serve as trustee for the foundation following their death. Jean Light, Senior Vice President for Chesapeake Wealth Management, currently serves as the president of the foundation.
It is our honor to continue to pass down the Conleys’ legacy and be a part of their long-term impact on our community. The original mission of the Conley Foundation remains the same:
“To provide support and assistance to students and the organizations which enhance and improve the health, education and community welfare for citizens of Lancaster and Northumberland Counties, Virginia.”
Interested students can apply for a scholarship via mail to the Conley Foundation. Applications are accepted through June 15th. Applicants must provide a copy of their SAT scores, a high school or most recent college transcript, as well as two written personal recommendations. The completed package should be mailed to:
