I Care About: Keeping Mathews County Beautiful

Sometimes the causes we care about most are the ones that impact our everyday surroundings, like the roads, the beauty of the parks, local schools and the health of the community. For Chesapeake Bank Regional Manager Cathy Mise, she’s driven to take care of Mathews, Virginia through her work with the Rotary Club. Still a “newbie” with the Rotary organization, she’s always loved the Middle Peninsula region and now offers her time to making Mathews shine.

Run into Cathy on a weekend outside of the Mathews Chesapeake Bank Branch and you might find her in rubber gloves cleaning up litter on the side of the road or having a good time at the annual Rotary Club oyster roast fundraiser to raise money to do more good work in the community.

For those unfamiliar with the Rotary Club, it’s a service organization with the purpose of bringing business and professional leaders together to provide humanitarian services and to advance goodwill in the community. Cathy was drawn to the work of the Mathews Rotary Club for its commitment to offering scholarships to local students and keeping Mathews County beautiful.

“As someone who lives and works in Mathews, I treasure the region and feel responsible to do my part to keep the area beautiful, the people well and the community thriving,” said Cathy. “I can’t think of a better way to spend my time.”
