I Care About: Northern Neck Free Health Clinic

For Chesapeake Bank, regardless of location, one thing always remains the same: the level of community care among our employees. We are incredibly fortunate to have employees who care so much about their work at the bank, but even more so, their work in the community.

John O’Shaughnessy Executive Vice President and Senior Credit Officer is no different. For John, caring for the community seems to go hand in hand with his work at the bank.

“It’s our industry; our industry as a whole, is a leader when it comes to civic involvement. You go to any small town, and look at the top two or three nonprofits… who’s got leadership positions? It’s the people in community banks,” he said.

John is the president of the Northern Neck’s Free Health Clinic. The clinic was established in 1992 as a nonprofit to bring healthcare to the needy. Today, it provides health and dental services to low income, uninsured residents living in a five-county service region including the Northern Neck and Middlesex County.

“The need that the Free Health Clinic meets is unbelievable in this community. We need to keep it going,” said John.
