Have you paid for something in the check-out line with your phone yet? If you haven’t then you are missing out on some pretty powerful technology! By adding your Chesapeake Bank debit card to either Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Samsung Pay, you can easily and securely use your digital wallet for groceries, online shopping, Uber, and even vending machines.

So what is a mobile wallet?

The answer is simple. A mobile wallet is software on your mobile device that allows you to store a digital version of your credit and debit cards. But don’t worry, while you do have to enter your card information into the phone to get started, the information is not permanently stored on your device.  Each credit and debit card number that you enter is assigned a virtual card number associated only with the digital wallet and mobile device that you use. Additionally, most apps require authorization via your finger print, passcode, or other security measure before completing the transaction, which essentially adds a second layer of authorization.

A mobile wallet isn’t only useful for quick Credit and Debit card access either. You can redeem coupons and rewards, hold flight boarding information, concert tickets, movie passes, gift cards, and much more. How and where it is accepted depends on the retailer or merchant that you are using. However, the credit or debit card that you enter into your wallet first will be the default card that is used when you make a payment. While you can switch the payment method at the time of transaction, making the default card [first card] your Chesapeake Bank debit card will only increase the speed and ease of making transactions with your mobile wallet. This will also insure that you’re not missing out on our rewards.
